–Meanwhile the airport will apparently fly the Catalan flag alongside the Ireland one, as well as decorating some of the airport interior in blood and gold colours from Friday morning onwards.

"Behind this team is the Catalan region and we feel we represent these people in the Heineken Cup in a way that we are not able to do in the Top 14. When we put on the ‘Sang et or’ [Blood and Gold] shirt we are very aware that we are their representatives in Europe."

There is certainly a party planned for the visit of the thousands of Catalan fans expected. Searson’s pub in Dublin has been designated an official ‘Club Catalan’ for the weekend, a place for the wandering tourists to congregate and drink a few with their Irish counterparts.
